Beat Pagurus the Ravenous boss in Another Crab’s Treasure to get a piece of the map as a reward. Our guide covers gear, moves, and more.
Pagurus, the Ravenous is a powerful optional boss encountered in Another Crab’s Treasure. This giant crab poses a significant challenge to players, especially those who attempt to face it early in the game.
However, with the right strategies and equipment, defeating Pagurus is achievable. In this guide, we’ll show you all the best methods to win over this powerful boss, explore its attack patterns, and reveal the rewards if you win the battle!
Before facing Pagurus in Another Crab’s Treasure, it’s important to make sure that Kril is ready. While you can meet this boss early, it’s recommended to wait until Kril has the Mantis Punch ability. This move is very helpful in dealing damage and breaking down Pagurus’s defenses.
When fighting Pagurus, playing defensively is important. This boss’ attacks are dangerous, so it’s best to focus on dodging rather than parrying. Keeping a distance from Pagurus helps avoid its deadly moves, like the grabbing attack that can cause serious harm to you.
Choosing the correct shell is important too in this boss fight. The Banana Peel Shell works well against Pagurus because the boss is allergic to bananas. If Pagurus eats Krill wearing this shell, it’ll take a lot of damage for him, helping you win faster.
Here is the breakdown of Pagurus’ move set in Another Crab’s Treasure:
Attack | Description | Image |
Five Hit Combo | Pagurus charges at Kril and performs a five-hit combo with both pincers, finishing with an uppercut.
Knife Attack | Pagurus will attack with a single swipe using the knife.
Fork Attack | Pagurus will attack with a single swipe using the fork.
Fork Lunge | When a blue icon appears, Pagurus will thrust its right arm fork forward.
One Grab Kill | Pagurus tries to grab Kril with its left-hand knife. If it succeeds, Kril is either eaten or thrown away, often resulting in an instant defeat.
AoE Smash | When a blue icon appears, Pagurus raises both pincers and strikes them down.
Fright Scream | Pagurus jams both pincers into the ground, followed by a scream that builds up the Fright status effect, potentially causing Kril to hide in the shell.
Centipede | If Pagurus’s health drops below 50%, a centipede emerges from its mouth. |
Pagurus’s Frighten attack is very dangerous as it leaves Kril defenseless. To defend against it, you can use Kril’s shell to shield yourself. Dodging or blocking when Pagurus tries to use Frighten can completely avoid the status effect.
If you are prepared and ready to fight Pagurus, you can find him in The Sands Between region. You can start at the Upper Crust Shelleport checkpoint and then continue north until the sandy surface begins.
Continue onward until you find a red-colored life buoy tube. From there, proceed east to encounter Pagurus emerging from the earth, ready for battle.
After you successfully defeat Pagurus the Ravebous, you will be rewarded with a new piece of the map. This reward is very valuable since it can help and guide you with the journey coming ahead of you in Another Crab’s Treasure.
