Red Loong is a secret boss in Chapter 1’s Forest of Wolves in Black Myth: Wukong. Defeating this lightning dragon nets you rare crafting materials such as the Loong Pearl and Thunder Tail, which let you forge the Loongwreath Staff later on.
It’s a tricky fight but the loot is worth the effort. This guide will show you how to find and defeat Red Loong in Black Myth: Wukong.
Red Loong is hiding in Chapter 1 but you can’t get to him right away. You need an item called the Loong Scales from Chapter 2 first. Here’s how to get it:
Now head back to the Forest of Wolves – Outside the Forest in Chapter 1. Look for a big waterfall near some trees and a Buddha statue. Use the Loong Scales on the waterfall to reveal a hidden path leading to Red Loong.
Red Loong uses lots of lightning attacks that can shock you. Being shocked makes you take way more damage so you want to avoid it. Here are some ways to prepare:
Red Loong has a few main moves to watch out for:
Boss Attack | Description | Counter |
Leaping Strike | Jumps at you, leaving sparks | Dodge at the last second |
Double Claw Combo | Basic claw swipes | Easy to dodge roll past |
Shockwave Stomp | Slams ground, creating an electric wave | Roll to the side |
Zappy Tail Slicer | Sweeps tail in a big arc | Dodge roll to avoid |
The key is to be aggressive and stagger Red Loong. Hit him hard and he’ll fall over exposing the censers on his back. That’s his weak spot so wail on it while he’s down.
Start the fight by dodging his first attack then use A Pluck of Many to make clones. Follow up with Immobilize to keep him still. Keep up the pressure and you can stagger him pretty quick.
It takes about 3 good staggers to take Red Loong down. Use your strongest attacks and transformations to deal big damage when he’s vulnerable. Stay on the offensive and you’ll bring him down before long.
Defeating Red Loong gets you the following rewards:
You can also craft the epic Loongwreath Staff after winning but you’ll need some extra materials first.
Taking down Red Loong is a tough but rewarding challenge in Black Myth: Wukong. You’ll need to do some prep work in Chapter 2 to even reach this secret boss.
Once you’re face-to-face focus on dodging his lightning attacks and staggering him to expose his weak spot. With the right gear and an aggressive approach, you’ll eventually bring him down. The rare crafting materials and power-ups you get make it all worthwhile.
