As you explore Dark and Darker, you will eventually face a tough enemy – the Cave Troll Boss. Hiding under the Goblin Town area in the Goblin Caves map, this huge beast is a big challenge.
However, with the right plans, you can win against the Cave Troll, even with just starter gear and any character build in Dark and Darker.
Cave Troll Basic Attacks and How to Dodge Them in Dark and Darker
The Cave Troll Boss has four basic attacks that you’ll need to dodge well. Here they are with how to dodge each one:

Circle around to the right of the boss, keeping a bit of space between you and it. When its attack is on cooldown, move in and hit its hand or head.
Watch out for clockwise swing combos that can chain up to 6 swings in a row. Just keep circling and be patient.
This Dark and Darker boss will never combo after a slam attack, so those are safe times to attack.
Cave Troll Charged Attacks and How to Dodge Them in Dark and Darker
Sometimes the Cave Troll Boss will do two very strong charged attacks at random times:

Avoiding Cave Troll Roar Attack in Dark and Darker
If you get too far from melee range, the boss may roar at you. This slows you down and blurs your vision. To dodge the roar, run past the sides of the Cave Troll quickly.
If the roar hits you, the boss will either do a low swing you have to jump over or a high swing you have to duck under. It’s hard to tell which is coming, so it’s best to jump to avoid the low swing.
The roar usually only happens after dodging the charged slam or right at the start of the fight. Begin fights from behind the troll so you have time to get in close as it turns around.
