Learn how to beat the Blackgaol Knight in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree and discover the rewards with our guide.
The Blackgaol Knight is a challenging sub-boss in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. This guide covers the exact location of the Blackgaol Knight and strategies to defeat him, as well as the rewards you’ll earn.
The Blackgaol Knight is located in the Western Nameless Mausoleum in Gravesite Plain. From your starting point in Shadow of the Erdtree, head northwest. Alternatively, ride west from the Site of Grace called ‘Scorched Ruins’ to reach the mausoleum.
The Blackgaol Knight wields a greatsword and a crossbow, with distinct attack phases. Notably, spirit ash summons are not allowed, so you must face him alone unless you have a multiplayer partner.
In this phase, the knight uses a crossbow for rapid-fire arrows while wielding his sword single-handedly.
The knight switches to a two-handed greatsword, delivering powerful attacks.
Upon defeating the Blackgaol Knight, you’ll receive the following rewards:
The Greatsword of Solitude requires 27 Strength and 13 Dexterity to wield, scaling with Strength (B) and Dexterity (E).
Defeating the Blackgaol Knight requires strategic dodging, precise counterattacks, and consistent pressure. With patience and skill, you can claim his valuable rewards and conquer other bosses in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.
