Genzui Kusaka is one of the key character allies in Rise of the Ronin. As a devoted student of Master Shoin Yoshida and a member of the anti-shogunate Choshu Clan, Genzui plays a pivotal role in the game’s narrative.

You’ll first meet Genzui Kusaka during the Follow Your Blade Twin quest in Chapter 1 of Rise of the Ronin. There, Ryoma will introduce you to the members of the anti-shogunate, where you’ll meet him along with Shinsaku Takasugi and Kogoro Katsura. From this point, you can begin completing Bond Missions to establish a friendship with Genzui.

To further strengthen your bond, you can visit Genzui at the Sakura Inn in Bashamichi (Chapter 1) or the Choshu Clan Villa in Azabu (Chapter 2). Additionally, placing specific items like an Elegant Jar, a Miniature Amida Buddha, and a small Old Jar on your longhouse display shelf can increase the frequency of Genzui’s visits.
