The Consortium is a tough optional boss in Another Crab’s Treasure. It’s a big crab pot filled with deep-sea creatures like an octopus and crab claws. This boss is fast and has many legs, so it’s hard to beat.
This guide will break down the simple way to get to and easily kill The Consortium in Another Crab’s Treasure.
Where to Find The Consortium in Another Crab’s Treasure
The Consortium is found in the second half of the game after you start looking for the four treasure map pieces in New Carcinia. Here’s how to get there:
- Go to Flotsam Vale after beating Roland
- Find the Moon Shell checkpoint but don’t go north
- Look left towards the tower with electricity
- Along the cliff, you’ll see a raised fishing pole hook – that’s where the boss is
You can’t get there directly from Flotsam Vale. Go back to the Expired Grove hammer crab area before Village Gates. North of the hammer crab, break the purple Umami cube by punching it with the “Mantis Punch” skill.
This reveals a path across some milk containers. Follow this path until you reach a loading area. Enter Flotsam Vale from this new side to get to The Consortium’s battle arena.
How to Defeat The Consortium in Another Crab’s Treasure
Before the fight, it’s good to have the Scrap Hammer skill that powers up your weapon damage. Also, equip a strong shell like the Sprocket Shell for extra defense.
In the arena, your goal is to cut all the ropes holding the crab pot together. Follow these steps:
- Start by attacking the tentacles at the front with two charged Scrap Hammer hits
- Take out the tentacle next to it, so only the side and top tentacles remain now
- The boss will try slamming the ground and swinging tentacles at you. But you can:
- Roll away when it slams down
- Block tentacle hits with your shell
- Use the hanging fish hooks to jump up above
- Don’t immediately land on the pot – go to the nearby rocks first. This maneuver makes The Consortium come towards you
- Once The Consortium is within striking distance of the rocks, climb atop the crab pot and focus your efforts on severing the remaining top tentacles.
Keep repeating jumping on top, damaging tentacles, then getting off before it throws you. Once all tentacles are cut, The Consortium crab pot falls apart and you win!
Even though it’s effortful, using this strategy makes The Consortium much easier to beat in Another Crab’s Treasure.
