To start the Flickering Shadows quest, you’ll first need to complete the main quest, Nation of the Lambent Flame. Once you’ve accomplished this, the Flickering Shadows quest will automatically be added to your quest log, ready for you to take on.

Follow these steps to complete the Flickering Shadows quest:

Step 1: Talk to the Pathfinder in the Mercantile Ward

Your adventure begins in the bustling Mercantile Ward of Bakbattahl, where you’ll encounter the Pathfinder.

This mysterious figure will initiate a conversation, informing you of a lab that holds the secrets of the godsway.

Step 2: Speak with Ambrosius at Olta’Battahl Coast

Head northeast of the Mercantile Ward to the Olta’Battahl Coast, where you’ll find Ambrosius being attacked by a griffin and other aerial monsters.

Save him, and he’ll become an essential ally in your quest.

Step 3: Collect Blue Crystal Shards for Ambrosius

Surrounding the area where Ambrosius is located, you’ll find numerous blue crystal shards. Collect a few of these, as Ambrosius will need them for his research.

At this point, you might get attacked by a Griffin. If you don’t want the trouble of fighting it, just back up a little, wait for the Griffin to fly further, and then go back to talk to Ambrosius again.

Step 4: Go to Bay Waywide Shrine

North of the Olta’Battahl Coast, you’ll find the Bay Waywide Shrine. Speak with the Dragonforged here, and select the dialogue option “Tell me of the godsway” to further your understanding of the quest.

Step 5: Go to the Reverent Shrine and Talk to Luz

Next, go to the Enoa’Battahl Forest and make your way to the Reverent Shrine. Here, you’ll encounter the floating spirit of the Oracle Luz.

Speak with her and choose the option “Tell me the godsway’s secret” to unlock the Trickster Vocation.

Step 6: Speak to the Rivage Elder in Harve Village

If you’re unsure of where to go next, you can pay Luz 50 Gold to receive information on your next destination.

She’ll tell you to seek out the Rivage Elder near Stormwind Cave, south of Harve Village.

Speak with the Rivage Elder to trigger a cutscene and complete the Flickering Shadows quest.
