The Stolen Throne quest is one of the most interesting quests in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Not only does it play a pivotal role in the story, but this quest also gives you the opportunity to romance Wilhelmina.

Follow these steps to complete the Stolen Throne quest:

Step 1: Go to the Masquerade Hall Location

Head to the Masquerade Hall located within Vernworth Castle. This grand event takes place every 2 nights, so be sure to time your visit accordingly.

If you arrive without the proper attire, you’ll be prevented from entering the hall, although you can still choose to go through the doors. However, doing so will result in guards attacking you and sending you to jail if you’re defeated.

To avoid this confrontation, make sure you have the necessary courtly attire equipped before joining the masquerade.

Step 2: Get Formal Raiment or Courtly Attire

The next step is to get the required formal wear to blend in with the other attendees of the Masquerade Hall. You’ll need the following items:

  • Courtly Tunic
  • Courtly Breeches
  • Eventide Mask (given to you by Captain Brant at the start of the quest)

There are several locations within Vernworth Castle where you can find these pieces of courtly attire, including the Guest Chambers, Comptroller’s Home, Sven’s Chambers, and the Masquerade Hall itself. Additionally, you can purchase the Courtly Attire from Philbert’s Sundries in Vernworth for a hefty 305,000 G.

The recommended place to get formal wear is the Comptroller’s Home, as it is the easiest place to go to with minimum risk.

Step 3: Approach the False Sovran

With the courtly attire equipped, head to the Masquerade Hall. Once you enter, a short cutscene will play, where you’ll witness the False Sovran exiting the hall through a hidden passage.

Step 4: Find the Hidden Passage

After observing the False Sovran’s exit, make your way to the outer ring of the Masquerade Hall, towards the back, northeastern wall.

You’ll see people entering through a hidden passage at this location. Follow the path outside until you reach a balcony leading to the Rose Chateau Borderlie.

Upon reaching the balcony, a cutscene will play, where Wilhelmina will catch you but help you hide from the guards chasing after you. Be sure to watch all the cutscenes before proceeding to the next step.

Step 5: Return to Captain Brant

After completing the sequence of events at the Masquerade Hall and the Rose Chateau Borderlie, make your way back to Captain Brant to complete the quest.

Additional Tips

  • If you’re not wearing the proper attire and attempt to enter the Masquerade Hall, you’ll be attacked by guards and sent to jail. Simply run away from Vernworth Castle and rest at an inn to let the guards cool off.
  • The Masquerade party takes place every 2 nights, so be mindful of the timing if you don’t find the event happening during your initial visit.
  • If the hidden door won’t open, you’ll need to wait until the next Masquerade party, as the passage will only be accessible during the event.
