To start the Heel of History quest, you’ll need to first make your way to the Slums area of Vernworth and speak with Kendrick, who can be found outside The Gracious Hand.

Kendrick will ask you to donate 1,000 Gold and some food before he can share the details of the quest. If you don’t have any food on hand, you can find some Dried Spuds inside The Gracious Hand.

After you donate all the things required, follow these steps to complete the Heel of History quest:

Step 1: Speak to the Children

With the quest initiated, your first objective is to gather clues about Malcolm’s location by speaking with three children in the area.

• Start by talking to the two boys, Harvey and Rick, who are standing outside The Gracious Hand, overlooking the ocean.
• Once you’ve spoken with them, you’ll be able to find Aimee inside The Gracious Hand, who will provide additional information.

After speaking with all three children, return to Kendrick and report your findings. Kendrick will then lead you to a ruined tower near the area, where he’ll clear the rubble blocking the entrance to a small underground dungeon.

Step 2: Explore the Vaults

Descend the steps into the Gracious Hands’ Vaults, where you’ll find that the direct path to the end of the dungeon is locked.

Instead, stick to the right wall and circle around, finding a path on the other side of the locked door. Once you reach the octagonal room, you’ll be reunited with Malcolm in a cutscene.

Step 3: Discover the Place with Plenty of Tomes

Malcolm will enthusiastically reveal that he has discovered a secret workshop full of books just ahead.

By following the path, you’ll come across an underground library, which is the “place with plenty of tomes” that Magistrate Waldhar has been searching for.
