Before you can begin the “In Dragon’s Wake” quest, you’ll first need to make some progress in the game’s introductory “Tale’s Beginning” quest line.

As soon as you wake up from that slumber, the “In Dragon’s Wake” quest will automatically trigger and get added to your quest log. From there, you’ll receive guidance on where to go next.

Follow these steps to complete the “In Dragon’s Wake” quest:

Step 1: Explore Melve and Confront a Ferocious Dragon

Your first major objective is to travel to the town of Melve, situated just south of Borderwatch Outpost. Once there, head into the crumbling stronghold ruins and make your way left at first, then go north toward an old well.

Keep pushing forward and you’ll come across a hilltop path – take it to trigger an intense cinematic cutscene. This’ll flash you back to an earlier time when you were the legendary Arisen warrior.

In this vision, you’ll take direct control and have to fight off a terrifying dragon that’s invading. Draw your weapon and start wailing on the beast.

If you deal enough damage, another cut-scene will play, showing the dragon ripping out your heart, tying into the game’s story of you becoming the new Arisen.

Step 2: Get Guidance from Lennart at the Inn

After that harrowing encounter, make your way to Tristan’s Inn back in Melve’s town center. There, you’ll meet a chap named Lennart who will explain the different character vocations (job classes) you can choose in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Once you’ve picked his brain, head back outside where a woman named Dahlia will advise you to seek out the watchman Gregor stationed near Melve’s entrance.

Step 3: Go to the Capital With Gregor’s Crew

Speak to Gregor and he’ll let you join his traveling caravan headed to the capital city. Stick close as you all make your way on foot, battling pests like goblins and harpies along the road using your pawns to help turn the tide.

Step 4: Kill the Cyclops

Eventually, your path will be blocked by debris with a brutish one-eyed cyclops monster waiting on the other side. This starts up a mini “One-Eyed Interloper” quest tasking you with slaying the foul beast.

Though it’s been roughed up a bit already, the cyclops still has plenty of fight left. Use your pawns and whatever skills Gregor’s crew has at their disposal to cut this oversized foe down to size.

For an edge, try destroying the dam on the far side blocking the flow of water. That’ll unleash a flash flood to severely damage the cyclops and potentially turn the tide of battle.

Once victorious, Gregor will give you the choice of either continuing on to the capital with his group by riding oxcarts (faster travel) or branching off to make your own way there.

Step 5: Arrive at the Capital and Complete the Quest

Whichever path you take, you’ll eventually arrive at the capital city of Vernworth where a guard captain named Brant will pull you aside for questioning about your recent activities and run-in with the cyclops.

Answer his inquiries however you see fit until the conversation ends. This will complete the “In Dragon’s Wake” main quest and clear the way for you to freely explore Vernworth and continue pushing the main storyline forward.

“In Dragon’s Wake” Quest Rewards
