This character tier list separates the cream of the crop from the rest in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
With a wide selection of playable characters featuring unique combat abilities, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth encourages players to strategically experiment with party compositions.
But with each party member bringing distinct strengths to battles, which fighters form the top tiers?
We tried to rank all fighters from the powerful S-tier to the specialized C-tier.
Read on to find out how each party member’s unique skills can be strategically combined to create an optimal team composition for deeper gameplay.
There is only one fighter from Final Fantasy 7 Rebirt that we consider to be the most powerful and useful in any party:
As the central protagonist of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Cloud rightfully earns the top S-tier spot. He acts as an exceptional jack-of-all-trades with his balanced stat spread and versatility to adapt to any battle scenario.
His powerful melee combos and ranged Hybrid spells inflict high damage from any distance.
Useful abilities like Focused Thrust help quickly build enemy stagger bars as well. His Operator Mode grants increased attack speed and access to additional elite skills.
Cloud’s well-rounded toolkit cements his standing as a premier member of any elite team composition.
There are a total of three characters who land in the A-tier of our Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth tier list:
The perky princess of Wutai herself, Yuffie makes her mark as an A-tier fighter.
Her rapid shuriken slashes build ATB quickly while dealing high damage, and her unmatched mobility lets her dance circles around enemies. When she activates potent abilities like Art of War and Elemental Ninjutsu, Yuffie unleashes absolute hell upon enemies.
And while squishy in terms of raw health, her agile acrobatics help her avoid most attacks with ease. Bring Yuffie for blindingly quick flurries to decimate opponents.
Red XIII matches Yuffie’s A-tier rank with his own impressive movesets. Alongside stalwart attacks like the aerial Sidewinder, his Bio spell poisons enemies while the Ifrit summon wrecks house.
Once Red XIII activates his Vengeance Mode, he can siphon health and mana from enemies with each hit. This risky, high-reward system makes Red XIII a uniquely powerful glass cannon.
A step down from the S-tier, Barret earns an A-tier position as ranged fighter extraordinaire.
His Overcharge and Maximum Fury abilities enable non-stop projectile barrages. Barret also acts as an adept tank, reducing damage to allies with his Lifesaver skill. His versatility cements his status as a top-choice party member.
Only two characters are included in the B-tier:
Cait Sith leverages both magic and physical attacks for an adaptable hybrid playstyle. Let’s Ride and Dodge n’ Dive grant ATB boosts to fuel abilities.
His moogle companion dishes decent melee damage alongside Cait Sith’s ranged megaphone shouts and randomizing dice rolls. This jack-of-all-trades toolkit provides solid overall value.
Joining Cait Sith in the B-tier is Tifa. Though squarely average in most combat aspects, Tifa finds her niche with Synergy abilities like Heavenly Ascent.
While Tifa won’t top any damage charts alone, her coordinative skills enable allies to shine brighter. Her supportive capabilities push Tifa to a respectable B rank.
Last but not least, the C-tier character in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is:
Unfortunately occupying the lowly C tier, Aerith serves as primarily a magical backup.
Her proficient casts and Healing Wind limit break provide excellent health restoration, but her lacking mobility and poor damage dealing relegate her to healing bot.
Still, with proper protection, Aerith’s restorative powers stay relevant as a pure life-saving specialist. Don’t underestimate her gifts.
