Ghost of Tsushima’s PC multiplayer crossplay with PS4 and PS5 will initially be in beta. A PSN account is needed for multiplayer.

Ghost of Tsushima has finally arrived on PC, but there are some important details players should be aware of regarding the game’s multiplayer mode. The PC version of Ghost of Tsushima includes the Legends co-op multiplayer experience. However, the crossplay functionality for Legends has launched with a beta label attached to it.

Does Ghost of Tsushima have Crossplay?

Developer Nixxes Software announced that the Legends multiplayer mode supports crossplay between Ghost of Tsushima players on PC, PS4 and PS5. This allows PC players to group up with friends on PlayStation consoles.

But at launch, the crossplay matchmaking is not automatic. PC players who want to play with PlayStation users need to manually invite them to a game session. Nixxes has stated they will continue to make adjustments to the multiplayer based on player feedback post-release.

Do you need a PSN account for Ghost of Tsushima cross-play?

Another key detail is that PC players are required to connect their Steam account to a PlayStation Network account in order to access Ghost of Tsushima’s multiplayer. This has been a contentious point, as some players believe a PSN account should not be mandatory on PC.

The PSN requirement even resulted in Ghost of Tsushima pre-orders being refunded in regions where the game was delisted on Steam. It has caused concerns about whether future PlayStation to PC ports will have similar restrictions.

It remains to be seen how the beta state of Legends multiplayer and the PSN account requirement will affect Ghost of Tsushima’s PC player base in the long run. The game has been highly anticipated on the platform due to its beautiful open world and thrilling samurai action. PC players who plan to focus on the single-player content are in for a great experience. But those looking forward to seamless multiplayer may need to wait for further updates from Nixxes and Sony.
