How to Find and Defeat Mad Tiger in Black Myth: Wukong
In Chapter 2 of Black Myth: Wukong you can take on a secret quest to find and defeat the Mad Tiger. This optional boss fight is hidden behind a series of steps involving an item called the Old Rattle-Drum.
You’ll get the Mad Tiger Spirit which likely grants you new abilities and other items to upgrade your skills. Here’s how to find and defeat Mad Tiger, and earn those rewards in Black Myth: Wukong.
How to Find Mad Tiger in Black Myth: Wukong
The quest to face Mad Tiger starts in the Yellow Wind Formation area. First, you need to get your hands on the Old Rattle-Drum.
This key item drops when you beat the Tiger’s Acolyte boss. You’ll find this boss on a bridge in Windrest Hamlet. Once you’ve got the drum, you’re ready to track Mad Tiger down.
Finding Mad Tiger’s Lair
To find Mad Tiger you’ll need to use the Old Rattle-Drum in three different spots:
- Windseal Gate: Go to the Windseal Gate Keeper’s Shrine. Cross the wooden bridge and turn left under some wooden structures. You’ll know you’re in the right spot when things get misty.
- Windrest Hamlet: Head to the ruined village near the Windrest Hamlet Keeper’s Shrine. Go past the big gate and turn left to find another misty area.
- Valley of Despair: Go to the Valley of Despair Keeper’s Shrine in Sandgate Village. Cross the wooden bridge into the village and look for an exit in the walls. Use the drum in the misty area you find.
You’ll see a ghostly kid after using the drum in these three spots. He’ll tell you to jump down a well to meet an “old friend”. That friend is Mad Tiger and jumping down starts the boss fight. Make sure you’re ready before you take the plunge!
How to Defeat Mad Tiger in Black Myth: Wukong
Mad Tiger is a tough boss but with the right strategy, you can take him down. Here are some tips to help you win the battle:
- Mad Tiger hits hard up close. Try to stay back so you can see his attacks coming.
- The Immobilize spell is beneficial for this fight. Use it when you can’t dodge to stop Mad Tiger in his tracks.
- If you’ve unlocked any transformations use them! Each form has special attacks that can give you an edge.
- Mad Tiger has some moves that are easy to spot coming. Learn his pattern and you’ll have a better chance of dodging.
Mad Tiger’s Attacks
Mad Tiger has a bunch of different attacks you need to watch out for:

The trickiest part of this fight is Mad Tiger’s long combos. He can chain together a lot of attacks that are hard to dodge. If you see him getting worked up be ready to dodge a lot or use a transformation to tank the hits.

Beating Mad Tiger isn’t easy but it’s worth it! You’ll get:

There’s also a chest in the well that has a Plaguebane Gourd. Don’t forget to grab it before you leave!
