In Chapter 2 of Black Myth: Wukong you’ll encounter an optional boss called the Mother of Stones in Fright Cliff. Defeating her will earn you the Stone Essence – a key item that lets you transform into a Rock Guai. This new ability can give you an edge in future battles.
You’ll also get Stone Spirits and Yaoguai Cores which are useful for upgrading your character. Let’s dive into how to find and beat the Mother of Stones in Black Myth: Wukong.
The Mother of Stones is a special boss in Black Myth: Wukong. She’s not part of the main story but you can choose to fight her. You’ll find her in Chapter 2 of the game in a place called Fright Cliff.
To get to the Mother of Stones you need to do the following steps first:
You’ll see the boss there. She doesn’t move but don’t let that fool you. The fight is still hard.
Before you start fighting make sure you’re ready. Get good gear and practice your moves. Don’t rush into the fight if you’re not prepared.
To start the fight you need to do a side quest called Man-in-Stone. Look for a man stuck in rocks in the north part of Squall Hideout Keeper’s Shrine. Talk to him to start the quest.
The Mother of Stones fight is unlike any other boss battle you’ve faced. Despite being a formidable boss she remains stationary throughout the encounter.
However, don’t be fooled by her lack of movement – she compensates for her immobility with an enormous health pool and the ability to summon waves of helpers to defend her.
The real fight is against the helpers called Lesser Yaoguai or Poisestones. They come in waves. Here’s what to expect:
That’s six Palestones total. They’re the real danger.
The Palestones have different attacks:
Don’t try to block or parry. Dodging works best. Always beat all the Poisestones before attacking the Mother of Stones. If you don’t you’ll get overwhelmed fast.
Here are some strategies to help you win the battle:
Don’t be scared to back off and heal. Once all six Palestones are gone the Mother of Stones can’t do anything. Keep hitting her until she breaks.
Defeating Mother of Stones grants you the following rewards:
You can also go back to the Man-in-Stone. He’ll be happy and sell you rare items.
This fight is tough but with this guide, you’ll easily find an opening and win the battle. Take your time practice and master your skills. Soon you’ll beat the Mother of Stones and get stronger in Black Myth: Wukong.
