Discover everything you need to know about LoL’s new Swarm mode. Learn gameplay mechanics, champion selection, and strategies to survive.
League of Legends has introduced an exciting new game mode called Swarm, bringing a fresh PVE experience to the popular MOBA. This bullet-heaven style mode allows players to team up with friends or go solo in intense battles against waves of enemies. Whether you’re a seasoned League player or new to the game, this guide will help you understand and excel in Swarm mode.
Swarm is a cooperative PVE mode where up to four players fight against hordes of enemies. The goal is to survive for 15-25 minutes and defeat the final boss. Players move their champions using WSAD keys, a departure from the traditional mouse movement in League of Legends.
There are four different maps available in Swarm:
Players can choose from three difficulty levels: Easy, Hard, and Extreme. To unlock higher difficulties, you must complete all four maps on the previous difficulty level.
Swarm features nine playable champions listed as follows:
Jinx | |
Seraphine | |
Leona | |
Illaoi | |
Yasuo | |
Riven | |
Aurora | |
Briar | |
Xayah |
Each champion has unique abilities and ultimates, offering diverse playstyles to suit different preferences.
As you play, defeating enemies will drop XP orbs that you need to collect. Upon leveling up, you’re presented with three random stats or weapons to choose from. This system allows for diverse builds and strategies for each game.
Players can equip up to four weapons and six skills during a game. Weapons and skills can be upgraded to become more powerful. At level 5, weapons can be evolved if you have the corresponding stat, making them even stronger.
Throughout the game, various events will occur that can help or hinder your progress:
Spires
Random spires will spawn during the game, offering quests for players to complete. These include:
Access Cards can be obtained by completing spires, slaying elite mobs, or defeating mini-bosses. Access cards grant an additional selection screen for all players, which can be crucial for weapon evolution.
At the 15-minute mark, the map’s boss will appear. The fight continues until either your team is defeated or the boss is slain. Be prepared for intense battles with various mechanics to overcome.
