Discover how to save Soji Okita in “Rise of the Ronin” and earn the Farewell, Black Cat trophy and maximize your bond level.
In “Rise of the Ronin,” the quest to save the skilled swordsman Soji Okita is not an easy feat. However, with the game’s Testament of the Soul mechanic, players have the chance to alter his fate and earn the coveted Farewell, Black Cat trophy.
To rescue Soji Okita, players must first maximize their Bond level with him by completing his two Bond Missions: “The Supreme Swordsman” and “A Moment of Brilliance.” These missions become available after progressing through specific main missions and siding with Kondo to join the Pro-Shogunate faction.
“The Supreme Swordsman” unlocks after completing the “Fate of the Vanquished” Main Mission and the Pro-Shogunate mission “The Ikeda Inn Incident.” Subsequently, “A Moment of Brilliance” becomes accessible after finishing “The Supreme Swordsman” and the “Feud in Aburanokoji” Main Mission.
Once Soji’s Bond level is maxed out, players can utilize the Testament of the Soul to revisit the mission where he meets his demise. This time, owing to the strengthened Bond, Soji will be spared, granting players the Farewell, Black Cat trophy.
It’s important to note that players cannot save Soji during his initial scripted death. The key lies in retroactively building the Bond and then revisiting the moment to alter his fate. With these steps, players can successfully rescue Soji Okita in “Rise of the Ronin” and unlock the coveted trophy.
