The game features a roster of characters known as Descendants, each with unique abilities and playstyles. Players start with access to three initial Descendants:

  • Lepic
  • Viessa
  • Ajax

In our opinion, all of these early-game Descendants are in real good shape in the current meta and you should choose one based on your playstyle.

Note: Check out our guide on every First Descendant character.

As you progress, you can unlock additional Descendants by completing tasks and gathering blueprints. Each Descendant comes with four unique skills, which are gradually unlocked as the character levels up.

The First Descendant offers extensive customization options for both characters and weapons:

  • Modules: These attachments enhance various aspects of a Descendant’s abilities, such as skill cooldown, duration, and power.
  • Reactors: Critical components that significantly boost skill power and provide bonuses to specific skill types.
  • External Components: Items that improve max HP, defense, and other attributes.
  • Weapon Customization: Players can adjust and enhance weapons at workbenches, including transferring levels between weapons.

Make sure you use these customization options wisely and pair the correct items together.

Cosmetic customization is also available, allowing players to personalize their Descendants’ appearances with different hairstyles, makeup, and skins.

The First Descendant includes a helpful mailbox system located in Albian, the game’s main hub area. This feature serves two crucial purposes:

  1. Rewards Collection: Players can find various rewards in their mailbox, including items they may have earned from events, promotions, or compensations.
  2. Lost and Found: The mailbox also includes a “Lost and Found” section. This feature retrieves any items that players might have forgotten to collect on the battlefield during their missions.

Regularly checking the mailbox ensures that players don’t miss out on any earned rewards or accidentally overlooked loot.

Progression and Rewards

The game features a battle pass system with free and premium tracks, offering various rewards such as:

  • Emotes and badges
  • Increased gold gain
  • Weapon skins
  • Ultimate weapons

Additionally, players can earn Supply Coins by completing seasonal weekly challenges. These coins can be used to purchase cosmetic items from the Supply Shop.

The First Descendant offers a rich, customizable experience for looter shooter fans. With its diverse character roster, extensive customization options, and challenging endgame content, players have plenty to explore in this post-apocalyptic world.
