Recruiting new characters in Unicorn Overlord is tied to the quests you undertake and the choices you make.
As you progress through the story, certain quests will present opportunities to persuade potential characters to join your squad.
Additionally, important decisions during battles may lead to the recruitment of former enemies or the execution of those who refuse to yield.

In Unicorn Overlord, players are encouraged to deepen their relationships with recruited characters. By assigning characters to the same units, players can build rapport and potential romantic relationships.
Additionally, Alain can strengthen bonds with companions by giving gifts or treating them to meals at taverns.
In addition to the named characters above, players can also recruit and customize generic mercenaries
These mercenaries can be purchased at forts and walled cities using Renown and Honors. They can be customized in appearance, name, voice, and other customizations. It provides a versatile way to expand and tailor your forces to your preferred playstyle.
