To begin farming in ASKA, you need to build a Farm. However, several prerequisite buildings must be constructed first:

  1. Campfire
  2. Shelter
  3. The Eye of Odin
  4. Stonecutter’s Pit
  5. Woodcutter’s Pit
  6. Workshop Pit
  7. Gatherer’s Pit
  8. Gatherer’s Hut (upgraded from Gatherer’s Pit)

Additionally, crafting a Large Stone Axe at the Workshop Pit is necessary to collect logs for the Farm.

Setting Up Your Farm

Once the prerequisites are in place, you can build your Farm. Access the Farm’s interface to enter the Add-Ons menu.

Here, you can create Farm Crop fields at the cost of 1 Stick and 1 Rope per field. A single Farm can support up to 3 fields, with each field having a maximum of 16 crop spaces. Thus, one Farm can manage up to 48 crop spaces.

Managing Your Crops

Each Crop Field can support various crops, but you’ll need to assign workers to the Farm to till the soil, plant seeds, and water the crops. Ensure that workers have Rakes and access to the correct seeds and water. Using spoiled food as Compost can accelerate crop growth.

It’s important to note that certain seeds can only be planted in specific seasons:

  • Beetroot: Autumn, Winter
  • Berries: Spring, Summer
  • Cabbage: Summer, Autumn
  • Carrot: Summer, Autumn
  • Flax: Year-round
  • Garlic: Spring, Summer, Autumn
  • Onion: Spring, Summer, Autumn

Beetroot is the only crop that grows in Winter, while Flax can be grown throughout the year.

Effective Farming Strategies

Manually changing crops with each season is necessary to maximize productivity. Alternatively, you can build multiple Farms, rotate workers, or leave fields fallow during off-seasons.

You can opt to farm independently without assigning workers. While this method offers precise control over your crops, it is less efficient compared to having villagers manage the fields.

Gatherers play a crucial role in collecting seeds. They harvest forageables and store seeds in the Gatherer’s Pit or Gatherer’s Hut, ensuring you have a steady supply for your crops.

Conclusion

Farming in ASKA is vital for sustaining your settlement. Following the steps to build and manage your Farm, understanding seasonal planting, and efficiently utilizing workers will ensure a bountiful harvest. By mastering these farming techniques, you’ll keep your villagers well-fed and thriving in the world of ASKA.
